Privacy Policy — Kestrel
Last updated: 10 July 2026
Kestrel (“the app”) is developed by Mohammed Ragheb (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what information the app accesses and how it is handled. Contact: ragheb.github@gmail.com.
The short version
Kestrel does its work entirely on your device. It has no server, requires no account, and does not collect, transmit, sell, or share your personal data or the list of apps installed on your device.
What the app accesses
To identify which of your installed apps are built with the Flutter framework, Kestrel reads the
list of apps installed on your device and inspects each app’s package files locally
(using Android’s package-query APIs, including the QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES permission). Google
Play considers the inventory of installed apps to be personal and sensitive information. Kestrel uses
it only on your device, and only to show which of your apps are built
with Flutter along with their engine and package details. This information is never sent off your device.
Data storage
Kestrel caches its scan results locally on your device so the app opens quickly. This cache stays on your device and is removed when you clear the app’s data or uninstall it. Nothing is uploaded.
Network use
Kestrel’s core features work fully offline. It makes network requests only in these limited, optional cases:
- pub.dev package info (optional): If you tap to view information about a package, the app requests that package’s public information from pub.dev. Only the package name is sent — your installed-app list is never sent.
- Google Play services: The app uses Google Play’s in-app update and in-app review features, which are provided by Google Play and governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.
Data we collect
None. Kestrel has no analytics, no advertising, no trackers, and no user accounts. We do not collect or receive any data from the app.
Data sharing
We do not share any data with third parties, because we do not collect any.
Children
Kestrel is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. Changes will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
